On point spectrum of critical almost Mathieu operators (Q2237389): Difference between revisions

In this paper, the following critical almost Mathieu operator is considered: \((H_{\alpha ,\theta }\varphi )(n)=\varphi (n-1)+\varphi (n+1)+2\cos 2\pi (\alpha n+\theta )\varphi (n)\) (\(\alpha ,\theta \in \mathbb{R}\)). The author proves that the operator \(H_{\alpha ,\theta }\) does not have eigenvalues for any \(\alpha ,\theta \) (and thus has purely singular continuous spectrum for all \(\alpha \notin\mathbb{Q}\)).
