Let \(K\) be a connected compact Lie group. A Hamiltonian \(K\)-manifold is a triple \((M,\omega,m)\) where \(M\) is a \(K\)-manifold, \(\omega\) is a \(K\)-invariant sympletic form on \(M\), and \(m\colon M\to\mathfrak{k}^*\) is a \(K\)-invariant map (with respect to the coadjoint action), called the momentum map, such that \(\omega(\xi x,\eta)=m_*(\eta)(\xi)\), for \(\xi\in\mathfrak{k}\), \(x\in M\), and \(\eta\in T_x M\). Here \(\mathfrak{k}\) is the Lie algebra of \(K\). A similar notion is that of a quasi-Hamiltonian \(K\)-manifold, whose definition is similar, although a bit more technical. It can be found in [\textit{A. Alekseev} et al., J. Differ. Geom. 48, No. 3, 445--495 (1998; Zbl 0948.53045)]. For the results of this paper, in this case the group \(K\) is also assumed to be simply connected. The main result of this paper is to classify cohomogeneity one (quasi-)Hamiltonian \(K\)-manifolds. The fact that the action of \(K\) on \(M\) is of cohomogeneity one means that the orbit space \(M/K\) is \(1\)-dimensional. However, this is equivalent to a more technical notion that in turn relates to affine Dynkin diagrams. The classification is then recovered from a table listing all these possible diagrams.
