On nonnegative matrices with prescribed eigenvalues and diagonal entries (Q1669020): Difference between revisions

The authors discuss the problem of the existence and construction of nonnegative matrices with prescribed spectrum and diagonal entries. This is an inverse problem that is of importance by itself, away from its applications in other aspects. Precisely, some new sufficient conditions for matrices of size larger than \(3\times 3\) are given. the authors provide an algorithmic approach to construct their conditions. Several scenarios are discussed and some results generalize known ones. For the case \(4\times 4\), a detailed analysis is presented and stronger results are shown. For researchers in this field, this paper will provide many new interesting results. The paper is well written, with a clear literature review for non-specialists.
