The first integrals of a planar polynomials system that are polynomials in one variable and formal series in the other one are called Weierstrass first inegrals. This notion was first introduced in [\textit{J. Giné} and \textit{M. Grau}, Appl. Math. Lett. 23, No. 5, 523--526 (2010; Zbl 1195.34007)], where the definition is given in the more general context as a generalization of the Liouville integrability. In the paper under review, Weierstrass integrable means that the differential system admits a first integral or an inverse integrating factor which is a (generalized) Weierstrass polynomial. A (generalized) Weierstrass polynomial is a polynomial of the form \[ \sum_{i=0}^n a_i(x) y^i \in \mathbb{C}[[x]][y] \] whose coefficients \(a_i(x)\) are convergent series. As usual \(\mathbb{C}[[x]]\) is the ring of formal power series in the variable \(x\) with coefficients in \(\mathbb{C}\), and \(\mathbb{C}[y]\) is the ring of polynomials in the variable \(y\) with coefficients in \(\mathbb{C}\). The authors study the Abel differential equations that admit either a (generalized) Weierstrass first integral or a (generalized) Weierstrass inverse integrating factor.
