In 1999, Kočinac introduced the star selection hypothesis and defined a space to be \textit{star-Menger} (resp., \textit{strongly star-Menger}) if for each sequence \((\mathcal U_n:n\in\mathbb N)\) of open covers of \(X\), there are finite subfamilies \(\mathcal V_n\subseteq \mathcal U_n\) (resp., finite subsets such that \(F_n\subseteq X\)) \(\{St(\bigcup\mathcal V_n,\mathcal U_n):n\in\mathbb N\}\) (resp., \(\{St(F_n,\mathcal U_n)\}\)) is a cover of \(X\). In this paper, the author shows that the extent of a regular strongly star-Menger space can not exceed the continuum \(\mathfrak c\), which answers a question by the reviewer, and investigates the extent of strongly star-Menger spaces. Moreover, the author studies star-Menger Pixley-Roy hyperspaces and shows that if a space \(X\) is regular and \(PR(X)\) is star-Menger, then the cardinality of \(X\) is less than \(\mathfrak c\) and every finite power of \(X\) is Menger.
