The author describes a new family of representations in \(\text{PU}(2,1)\) of the fundamental group \(\pi_1(\Sigma)\) of a hyperbolic Riemann surface \(\Sigma\) with at least one puncture. The family is obtained by a bending process associated to an ideal triangulation of \(\Sigma\), and the representations arise as holonomies of equivariant mappings from the Farey space of \(\Sigma\) to the boundary of the complex hyperbolic plane. The author then identifies within this family a subfamily of discrete, faithful and type-preserving representations of \(\pi_1(\Sigma)\). Finally, he obtains a 1-parameter family of embeddings of the Teichmüller space of \(\Sigma\) in the PU(2,1)-representation variety of \(\pi_1(\Sigma)\). | |||
