The authors prove the following. Theorem. Let \(K\) be a nonempty closed convex subset of a real reflexive strictly convex Banach space \((E,\|\cdot\|)\) which has a uniformly Gâteaux differentiable norm and admits the duality mapping \(j_\varphi\). Let \({\mathcal T}= \{T(t): t\geq 0\}\) be a uniformly asymptotically regular nonexpansive self-mapping semigroup on \(K\) (i.e., for all \(h\geq 0\) and any bounded subset \(B\subset K\), \(\lim_{t\to\infty} \sup_{x\in B}\| T(h)T(t)x- T(t)x\|= 0\)) such that \(\operatorname{Fix}({\mathcal T})\neq\emptyset\), and \(f: K\to K\) be a contraction with the coefficient \(\alpha\in(0, 1)\). (A) Suppose that \(\lim_{n\to\infty} t_n= \infty\) and \(\{\alpha_n\}\subset (0,1)\). Then \[ x_n= \alpha_n f(x_n)+ (1-\alpha_n) T(t_n) x_n,\quad n\geq 1, \] converges strongly to \(p\in\operatorname{Fix}({\mathcal T})\) which also solves the variational inequality \[ \langle f(p)- p, j_\varphi(w- p)\rangle\leq 0\quad \text{for all }w\in \operatorname{Fix}({\mathcal T}).\tag{1} \] (B) Suppose that \(\lim_{n\to\infty} t_n=\infty\) and \(\{\alpha_n\}\subset(0, 1)\) such that \(\lim_{n\to\infty}\alpha_n= 0\) and \(\sum_n \alpha_n= \infty\). Then \[ x_{n+1}= \alpha_n f(x_n)+ (1- \alpha_n) T(t_n) x_n,\quad n\geq 1, \] converges strongly to \(p\in\operatorname{Fix}({\mathcal T})\) which also solves inequality (1).
