Summary: We present a new completely effective proof of the Lindemann-Weierstrass theorem based on algebraic independence methods. Although it is slightly weaker than the best known estimate due to \textit{A. Sert} [J. Number Theory 76, No. 1, 94--119 (1999; Zbl 0935.11024)], it improves the best estimate due to \textit{M. Ably} [Acta Arith. 67, No. 1, 29--45 (1994; Zbl 0813.11042)] obtained by such methods. The novelty of the proof lies in the simplicity of the construction of auxiliary functions, a fact that we exploit to introduce the non-specialist to methods of algebraic independence. | |||
