It is known that a system \((X,{\mathcal X},\mu,S,T)\) with two commuting transformations \(S\) and \(T\) is a probability space \((X,{\mathcal X},\mu)\) endowed with two commuting measure preserving transformations \(S,\, T: X\to X\). The aim of the present paper is to study the pointwise convergence of a cubic average in such a system. In particular by using a notion of dynamical cubes introduced by the authors, the Huang-Shao-Ye technique and the Host machinery of magic systems, the authors manage to prove that for such a system, which is an ergodic measure-preserving system, the average \[ {1\over N^2} \sum^{N-1}_{i,j=0} f_0(S^ix) f_1(T^j x)f_2(S^i T^j x) \] converges a.e. as \(N\) goes to infinity for any \(f_0,f_1,f_2\in L^\infty(\mu)\). | |||
