The author is interested in the following semilinear Cauchy problems for a wave equation with friction and visco-elastic damping term (in \(\mathbb{R}^n \times (0,\infty)\)): \[ \begin{aligned} & u_{tt}-\Delta u + u_t -\Delta u_t=|u|^p,\,\,\,u(x,0)=u_0(x),\,\,\,u_t(x,0)=u_1(x), \\ & u_{tt}-\Delta u + u_t -\Delta u_t=|u_t|^p,\,\,\,u(x,0)=u_0(x),\,\,\,u_t(x,0)=u_1(x),\\ & u_{tt}-\Delta u + u_t -\Delta u_t=|\nabla_x u|^p,\,\,\,u(x,0)=u_0(x),\,\,\,u_t(x,0)=u_1(x). \end{aligned} \] The data are supposed to belong to the energy space \(H^1 \times L^2\) (\(H^2 \times L^2\) for the third model) with additional \(L^1\) regularity. The main goal is to prove the global (in time) existence of small data solutions for some suitable range of admissible powers \(p\). In all cases a critical exponent is proposed. Finally, some decay estimates of the corresponding energy solutions are given. Important tools to prove all the results are \(L^1-L^1\) and \(L^m-L^2\) estimates, even singular estimates, for solutions or for some of its partial derivatives of the linear Cauchy problem \[ u_{tt}-\Delta u + u_t -\Delta u_t=0,\,\,\,u(x,0)=u_0(x),\,\,\,u_t(x,0)=u_1(x). \] The application of Gagliardo-Nirenberg inequality and a fixed point argument imply on the one hand the local (in time) well-posedness of large data solutions and the global (in time) well-posedness of small data solutions as well. | |||
