Shocks, rarefaction waves, and current fluctuations for anharmonic chains (Q526594): Difference between revisions

The paper deals with the equilibrium of Fermi-Pasta-Ulam anharmonic chains with domain-wall initial conditions. The parameters of the initial domain-wall state are selected to make the chain dynamics sufficiently chaotic. One considers successively the Riemann problem for the Leroux lattice gas and the Riemann problem for anharmonic chains. The hard point particles with alternating mass are carefully investigated, which provide a typical model of a nonlinear hyperbolic conservation law. And then one refers to square-well potential and to fluctuations of the time-integrated current.
