In previous articles [ibid. 16, No.1, 41-44 (1989; Zbl 0669.70012); ibid. 14, 177-180 (1987; Zbl 0635.70006); ibid. 14, 51-56 (1987; Zbl 0621.70002) and 13, 169-172 (1986; Zbl 0606.70008)] we have introduced some integrable cases of motion of a single gyrostat about a fixed point under the action of certain external forces. In the present work we consider the problem of motion of a pair of coupled gyrostats, each of which is fixed from one point, under no external forces. The coupling is introduced through the addition of terms bilinear in their angular velocities to the Lagrangian of the free gyrostats. Two general integrable cases of this problem are found. In both cases four integrals of motion are of the second degree in the components of the angular velocities and integrability is proved by the use of Jacobi's theorem. A particular integrable case in which the explicit solution is possible in terms of elliptic functions is also found. | |||
