In this quite interesting paper, the authors study commutative max rings (i.e., commutative rings over which every nonzero module has a maximal submodule). In their main theorem, they derive good number of equivalent conditions for a commutative ring to be a max ring. As an application, they generalize some of these equivalent conditions to a noncommutative ring , Morita equivalent to a commutative ring, to be a left max ring. They also prove that a commutative ring \(R\) is a max (resp. semi-Artinian) ring if and only if every \(R\)-module \(M\) is Hom-faithful. i.e., \(\mathrm{Hom}_R(M,N)\neq 0\) (resp. Tensor-faithful ,i.e., \(M\oplus_RN\neq 0\)) for each \(N_{\epsilon\sigma}[M]\), the full subcategory of Mod-\(R\) consisting of \(R\)-modules subgenerated by \(M\).
