The paper is concerned with abstract incomplete linear second-order integer-differential equations in a Hilbert space. These equations can arise in viscoelasticity and hydroelasticity. The author first gives a theorem giving sufficient conditions for the existence of a unique strong solution. Next he considers conditions under which the solution has the desired properties and through a sequence of observations he reaches a conclusion on stabilisation of the Cauchy problem. The author concludes the paper with some remarks on the effect of strengthening the conditions on the problem and provides a result on the solution limit.
