It is well known that the classes of harmonic and subharmonic functions are conformally invariant. The authors investigate similar notions of invariance for the wider class of quasi-nearly subharmonic functions. In addition, instead of conformal maps they consider the larger classes of quasiconformal and quasiregular maps. Let \(u\) be a locally bounded, nonnegative, measurable function on a domain \(\Omega\subset \mathbb R^n\). If there exists a constant \(C\) such that \[ u(a)\leq Cr^{-n}\int_{B(a,r)}u \] whenever \(B(a,r)\subset \Omega\), then \(u\) is called quasi-nearly subharmonic. Theorem 1.2 asserts that the composition of a quasi-nearly subharmonic function with a quasiregular map of bounded multiplicity is also quasi-nearly subharmonic. In the converse direction, the authors show that under certain additional assumptions the maps preserving quasi-nearly subharmonic functions are quasiregular.
