In this paper, the author establishes instability of standing solitary waves in the Euler-Korteweg system. The latter is given by the equations \[ V_t - U_x = 0, \] \[ U_t+p(V)_x=-(\kappa(V)V_{xx}+\frac{1}{2}(\kappa(V))_xV_x)_x, \] with \(\kappa(V)>0\).
