The Hermite functions form an orthonormal basis of the space of square integrable functions on the real line and the Hagedorn wavepackets generalize the Hermite functions to general space dimensions adding flexibility in terms of position and momentum localization. This paper considers Hagedorn wavepackets in time-frequency and phase space. First the authors summarize classical results on Hermite functions and recall a polynomial sum rule for computing the Wigner and FBI (Fourier-Bros-Iagolnitzer) transform of the Hermite functions. They derive explicit formulas for the Wigner and the FBI transform of the Hagedorn wavepackets via sum rules and they recast the known three term recurrence relation of the Hagedorn wavepackets on the Wigner level and show their relation to the Laguerre polynomials.
