In this interesting paper the author studies the integrability and linearizability problem for the three dimensional system \[ x'=x(1+f_1(x,y,z)),\, y'=-y+g_2(x,y,z),\, z'=z(1+h_1(x,y,z)), \] where \(f_1\) and \(h_1\) are linear homogeneous polynomials and \(g_2\) is a quadratic homogeneous polynomial. The author characterizes completely the integrable and linearizable cases. As usual, necessary conditions for integrability are found by imposing the existence of two local formal first integrals at the origin. To prove the sufficiency of the derived conditions the author uses several techniques developed in previous works studying the same questions for 3-dimensional Lotka-Volterra quadratic systems. These techniques are: the Darboux approach, including also the use of Jacobi multipliers, power series arguments and some Riccati equations.
