The paper starts by exhibiting a natural selfadjoint operator on a compact manifold \(M\) equipped with an Anosov flow which preserves a smooth measure. Then, the paper discusses the relation with the Livisic theorem and the regularity properties of cohomological equations. Further, the paper discusses extensively the X-ray transform of symmetric tensors, by applying the above results to the unit tangent bundle of a compact Riemannian manifold whose geodesic flow is of Anosov type.
