The book consists of two parts. The aim of the first part is to introduce the non-expert readers to the theory of pseudo-differential operators and Fourier integral operators; the material here may also be the subject of university courses in partial differential equations. The second part, with a more specialistic character, presents pseudo-differential operators on manifolds with conical and edge singularities. The whole book is well-organized, in particular, the exposition is self-contained, passing gradually from basic to advanced topics. We give in following a short description of the contents. Chapters 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6 are devoted to the theory of Sobolev spaces, the classical theory of pseudo-differential operators in open domains and compact manifolds, elliptic boundary value problems, canonical transformations and Fourier integral operators, propagation of the wave front set for solutions of non-elliptic equations. Chapter 5 deals with Kondratiev's theory on boundary value problems in domains with conical singularities. The problems considered in this chapter serve as a model case for further investigations in the chapters 7, 8, 9, devoted to the theory of pseudo-differential operators on manifolds with conical and edge singularities. More precisely, chapter 7 gives motivations and technical preparations, introducing suitable weighted Sobolev spaces, differential operators of Fuchs type, edge-degenerate differential operators, parametrices under conditions of ellipticity. Observe that the concept of ellipticity involves the behaviour of the operators not only in the interior domain but also near the singularities. Then parameter-dependent calculus, reduction of orders, Mellin pseudo-differential operators with operator-valued symbols, meromorphic Fredholm families are considered. Chapter 8 contains the theory of pseudo-differential operators on manifolds with conical singularities. It starts with the cone algebra with asymptotic, containing very naturally the inverse of differential operators of Fuchs type. The notions of Green operators and Mellin smoothing operators are also given. The edge algebra in general form is presented finally in chapter 9. The book is written by authors who have extensively contributed to the subject for many years; as general references, pointing in related directions, we quote \textit{Yu. V. Egorov}, \textit{M. A. Shubin} and \textit{R. V. Gamkrelidze} [Partial differential equations. I, Springer Verlag, Berlin (1992; Zbl 0741.00024), II, ibid. (1994; Zbl 0804.00011), III, ibid. (1993; Zbl 0741.00025)] and \textit{B. W. Schulze} [Pseudo-differential operators on manifolds with singularities, North Holland, Amsterdam (1991; Zbl 0747.58003)].
