Stability analysis for an anisotropic inhomogeneous plate is presented. The analysis is based on three-dimensional linear elasticity. The load to which the plate is subjected may be mechanical, thermal or due to moisture absorption. Using the transfer matrix method, the stresses and displacements in the plate are determined in terms of the stresses and displacements at the points on the mid surface. The buckling load obtained agrees with the classical results. It is important to note that in the first approximation the buckling formula takes into account the influence of shear deformation. In reviewer's opinion, this is an important contribution to the stability theory of laminated plates.
