The two-phase, one-dimensional Stefan problem with kinetic undercooling is considered with the aim of showing that its solution converge to the corresponding solution of the Stefan problem with no undercooling, when the undercooling effect tends to zero. More precisely, the free boundary conditions are written in the form \[ u_\varepsilon (R_\varepsilon (t)+0,t)= u_\varepsilon (R_\varepsilon (t)-0,t)=\varepsilon R'_\varepsilon (t), \] \[ \partial_x u_\varepsilon (R_\varepsilon(t)+ 0,t)- \partial_x u_\varepsilon (R_\varepsilon (t)-0,t)=R'_\varepsilon (t) \] and the authors prove the convergence of \(R_\varepsilon (t)\) to the free boundary \(R(t)\) of the Stefan problem with no undercooling in the norm \(C^{1+\delta / 2}\) as \(\varepsilon \to 0\). Convergence in weaker forms was proved in some previous papers by other authors. In particular uniform convergence was shown under the assumption of monotonocity of the free boundary, which here is not necessary.
