The authors prove the following. Let \((E_{\gamma})_{\gamma \in \Gamma}\) be Banach spaces where \(\Gamma\) is an index set with \(| \Gamma | <m_ r\). Then \((\Sigma \oplus \Sigma_{\gamma})_{\ell^{\infty}(\Gamma)}\) contains a complemented copy of \(c_ 0\) if and only if some \(E_{\gamma}\) does. Here \(m_ r\) denotes the first real-valued measurable cardinal.
