The authors consider the differential equation \((| u'|^{p- 2}u')'+f(t,u)=0\) under the boundary conditions \(u'(t_ 0)=u(t_ 1)=0\) or \(u(t_ 0)=u(t_ 1)=0,\) where \(p>1\) and f: [t\({}_ 0,t_ 1]\times {\mathbb{R}}_+\to {\mathbb{R}}\) is continuous. They establish existence theorems for solutions positive on \([t_ 0,t_ 1[\).
