The authors study flows on spaces of curves in two- and three-dimensional Euclidean spaces and of developable surfaces in the three-space which preserve arclengths of curves and which they call inextensible deformations. They describe such flows on curves and prove that for a developable surface such a flow can be defined by a pair of inextensible curve flows.
