Let \(G\) be a real semisimple Lie group of real rank \(\geq 2\) and \(\Gamma\) an irreducible lattice. Then \(\Gamma\) is finitely generated and one may define the word metric with respect to a finite set of generators. On the other hand \(\Gamma\) may be reviewed as a closed subset (if \(\Gamma\) is torsion free) of the symmetric space \(G/K\) associated to \(G\) and inherits the \(G\)-invariant metric. The authors prove that these two metrics are Lipschitz equivalent, thereby proving a conjecture of Kazhdan.
