The paper deals with the study of a singularly perturbed two-point boundary value problems. The authors consider a local exponentially fitted finite element scheme associated to this problem. The main result of the present paper establishes that this scheme possesses an \(\varepsilon\)-uniform convergence of order \(h|\ln h|^{1/2}\) in the energy norm. Two other higher-order schemes are also considered.
