The author studies the space of real functions \(L_p(\lambda)\) that are \(p\)-integrable with respect to a vector measure \(\lambda\) with values in a Banach space, where \(p > 1\). Two different vector valued dual topologies are defined and several compactness results are proved for the unit ball \(L_p(\lambda)\). These results are applied to prove new Grothendieck-Pietsch type factorization theorems.
