The authors consider the singular integral operator \(T_{\varphi,\Omega}\) in \({\mathbb R}^{n+1}\) \((n\geq 2)\) along the surface of revolution, \(\Gamma_{\varphi}=\{(y,\varphi(|y|))|y\in {\mathbb R}^n\}\), defined by \[ [T_{\varphi,\Omega} f](x,x_{n+1})=\text{p.v.} \int_{{\mathbb R}^n}f(x-y,x_{n+1}-\varphi(|y|))K(y) dy, \] where \(K\) is a kernel of Calderón-Zygmund type on \({\mathbb R}^n\) given by \[ K(y)=\frac{\Omega(y)}{|y|^n} \] for a function \(\Omega\) which is homogeneous of degree \(0\) and integrable over \(S^{n-1}\) and satisfies \[ \int_{S^{n-1}}\Omega(y) d\sigma(y)=0. \] In case that \(\varphi\in C^2([0,\infty))\) is convex and increasing, and \(\Omega\in C^{\infty}(S^{n-1})\), the \(L^p\)-mapping properties \((1<p<\infty)\) of \(T_{\varphi,\Omega}\) were studied by \textit{W.-J. Kim, S. Wainger, J. Wright}, and \textit{S. Ziesler} [Bull. Lond. Math. Soc. 28, No. 3, 291-296 (1996; Zbl 0893.42004)]. The present authors study the \(L^p\)-mapping properties of \(T_{\varphi,\Omega}\) when \(\Omega\) belongs to a function class \(F_{\alpha}(S^{n-1})\) introduced by \textit{L. Grafakos} and \textit{A. Stefanov} [Indiana Univ. Math. J. 47, No. 2, 455-469 (1998; Zbl 0913.42014)]; here, \(F_{\alpha}(S^{n-1})\) denotes the family of \(\Omega\)'s which are integrable over \(S^{n-1}\) and satisfy \[ \sup_{\xi\in S^{n-1}}\int_{S^{n-1}}|\Omega(y)|{\left(\ln\frac{1}{|\langle \xi,y\rangle |}\right)}^{1+\alpha} d\sigma(y)<\infty. \] They obtain the following results; Let \(\Omega\in F_{\alpha}(S^{n-1})\) for some \(\alpha>0\). (a) If \(n=2\), \(\varphi\in C^1([0,\infty))\), \(\varphi'\) is convex and increasing, then \(T_{\varphi,\Omega}\) is bounded on \(L^p({\mathbb R}^3)\) for \(p\in (\frac{2+2\alpha}{1+2\alpha},2+2\alpha)\). (b) If \(n\geq 3\) and \(\varphi\) is a polynomial satisfying \(\varphi'(0)=0\), then \(T_{\varphi,\Omega}\) is bounded on \(L^p({\mathbb R}^{n+1})\) for \(p\in (\frac{2+2\alpha}{1+2\alpha},2+2\alpha)\). Also, the above result (a) is, they say, an improvement of the result of \textit{Y. Pan, L. Tang}, and \textit{D. Yang} [``Boundedness of singular integrals with rough kernels along surfaces of revolution'' (Preprint)].
