Here, the authors calculate a normal form for 1:2 strong internal resonance for a coupled dynamical system with quadratic and cubic nonlinearities. They reduce the 4-dimensional bifurcation equation to a 3-dimensional one using a technique of transformation, and obtain an order 4 bifurcation equation only with one variable. As a result the authors analyze the bifurcation of universal unfolding and dynamical behaviour based on singularity theory. In the case of 1:2 internal resonance, a high-dimension nonlinear dynamical system has two pairs of pure complex eigenvalues and can be reduced to a 4-dimensional manifold using the method of center manifold.
