The note is going to analyze the assertions of the paper by \textit{A. Shidfar} and \textit{R. Pourgholi} [ibid. 168, No. 2, 1400--1408 (2005; Zbl 1079.65098)] on a finite difference approach for solving a specific inverse problem of heat conduction with respect to error stability. Because of an exponential error growth and large errors near the left boundary and for small times the authors refuse to believe the applicability of the suggested finite difference method for that problem. Numerical case studies show the error behaviour of the method rather clear. Unfortunately, the note contains a couple of typos. For example please read `method to analyse' in the title.
