It is well-known [see \textit{H. Komatsu} and the first author, Publ. Res. Inst. Math. Sci., Kyoto Univ. 7, 95-104 (1971; Zbl 0225.35032)] and \textit{P. Schapira} [An. Acad. Bras. Ci. 43, 39-44 (1971; Zbl 0234.46043)] that the boundary value of a (hyperfunction) solution of a linear differential equation on a non-characteristic surface is a well-defined hyperfunction. However, little is known about the characterization of a solution whose boundary value determines a hyperfunction near a characteristic boundary point. This article discusses this problem in a special case of a heat equation, and this gives a reasonable sufficient condition.
