Consider the second-order impulsive equation \[ (py')'= f(t,y,y'),\quad y(t_k+)-y(t_k)= I_k(y(t_k)), \;y'(t_k+)-y'(t_k)= J_k(y'(t_k)),\quad y \in \mathbb{R}.\tag \(*\) \] Analyzing the behavior of \(p(t)y'(t)\) at infinity, the authors propose a classification for the set of all solutions to \((*)\) and give sufficient conditions for some of these classes to be nonempty. The authors follow closely the main ideas from \textit{H. Usami} [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 122, 152-171 (1987; Zbl 0644.34011)].
