The author studies a class of special geometries corresponding to the choice of a differential graded algebra (DGA) contained in \(\Lambda^*\mathbb R^n\). He characterizes the DGA that define a special geometry and classifies the DGA-structures on the algebras \((\Lambda^*\mathbb R^{2n})^{SU(n)}\) and \((\Lambda^*\mathbb R^{2n+1})^{SU(n)}\). He formulates and studies the embedding problem for geometries defined by DGAs and determines a sufficient condition for an embedding to exist. He proves that, if \(N\) is a real analytic compact 3-dimensional manifold, then \(N\) can be isometrically embedded as a calibrated submanifold in a 9-manifold \(M\) with \(PSU(3)\)-structure and closed canonical form. Similar results are proved for the embedding of a real analytic manifold as a hypersurface into a real analytic manifold with a nearly-Kähler \(SU(3)\)-structure and a real analytic \(\alpha\)-Einstein-Sasakian manifold. The author also studies a new geometry defined by a \(5\)-form in nine dimensions whose stabilizer \(SO(3)\subset SO(9)\) acts irreducibly on \(\mathbb R^9\) and proves also an embedding theorem in this case.
