The authors study the solvability of the Cauchy problem for the following nonlinear degenerate parabolic equations with sources \[ \begin{aligned} &\frac{\partial u}{\partial t} = \Phi(u)|\Delta u|^{m-1}\Delta u + \Psi(u), \quad (x,t) \in \mathbb R^N\times (0,T),\\ &u(x,0) = u_0(x), \quad x \in \mathbb R^N, \end{aligned} \] where \(0\leq \Phi(s) \in C[0,\infty)\), \(\Psi(s) \in C^1[0,\infty)\), \(\Psi(0) = 0\), \(m \geq 1\) and \(0 \leq u_0 \in C_0(\mathbb R^N)\). The typical examples are \(\Phi(s) = s^q\), \(q \geq 0\) and \(\Psi(s) = s^p\), \(p \geq 1\). If \(\Phi(u) = 1\), \(\Psi(u) = 0\), then the equation is just the dual porous medium equation. The main aim of the paper is to study the solvability in generalized sense of the above-mentioned problem. To prove the existence result, at first, the authors consider some regularized problems which have classical solutions. Then, desired generalized solutions are obtained as the limit of subsequence of those classical solutions. The key tool is the Hölder norm estimate which is based on using some functional framework. The result reads as follows: The problem admits a nonnegative generalized solution \(u \in C([0,T];C(\mathbb R^N)\cap L^{\infty}(\mathbb R^N))\).
