A Fuchsian system is a system of linear differential equations with logarithmic poles. An apparent singularity of such a system is a pole of the system the monodromy at which is trivial. An isomonodromic deformation of a Fuchsian system is a family of Fuchsian systems (including the initial system) whose monodromy group remains the same throughout the deformation. The authors study movable singularities of Garnier systems using the connection of the latter with Schlesinger isomonodromic deformations of Fuchsian systems. They consider also questions of existence of solutions for some inverse monodromy problems.
