Let \(R\) and \(S\) denote commutative rings with identity, \((F,G)\) a linear system over \(R\) and \[ \Gamma:R\text{-mod}\to S\text{-mod} \] a functor. The preservation of pole-assignability of \((F,G)\) under application of \(\Gamma\) is studied. The results found do not need any topological conditions on the rings and they also yield sufficient conditions to preserve dynamic coefficient assignable rings, feedback cyclization rings and coefficient assignable systems. Various examples and applications conclude the paper.
