The authors construct translation planes of order \(q^{n}\) and kernel \(K\) of order \(q>3\) using Dembowski-Ostrom polynomials. Moreover, \(q\) and \(n\) are odd. The translation complement \(G\) has a series of normal subgroups \(Z\leq{\mathcal H}\leq{\mathcal G}\leq G\) such that \(|G:{\mathcal G}|\leq2\). The group \({\mathcal H}\) is the linear part inside \({\mathcal G}\), thus \({\mathcal G}/{\mathcal H}\) is isomorphic to a subgroup of Aut\(K\) described more detailed by the authors. \({\mathcal H}/Z\) is cyclic of order \(n\), while \(Z\) is a product of two cyclic groups of orders \(q^{n}-1\) and \(q-1\), respectively. There exist two lines which together with the translation line form a triangle fixed by \(\mathcal G\). The group \({\mathcal G}\) acts transitively on the set of points of each of these three lines outside of the vertices. There have been other planes known, which have a subgroup in the translation complement with this transitivity property on a triangle. Notably: nearfield planes, some generalized twisted field planes, some generalized André planes, the planes of orders \(q^{3}\), \(q\) odd, (see [\textit{C. Suetake}, J. Geom. 45, No. 1--2, 174--176 (1992; Zbl 0764.51005)]) (which are a special case of the present construction) and the planes by Kantor-Williams of even characteristic [\textit{W. M. Kantor} and \textit{M. E. Williams}, Adv. Geom. 10, No. 1, 161--183 (2010; Zbl 1186.51002)]. With the exception mentioned, the planes in the paper are not in this list. In a sense they are odd characteristic analogues of the planes by Kantor-Williams.
