The authors formulate a condition which allows them to deduce the non-triviality of the intersection of wedge algebras in a 2-dimensional Minkowski space from the spectral properties of the modular operators on certain specific subspaces of the Hilbert space. In particular they establish the existence of completely localized operators which can be interpreted as local observables.
