The paper deals with the equation \[ \frac{\partial u}{\partial t}(x,t)+u(x,t)=\int_{\mathbb{R}^N} J(x-y)(f(u(y,t))\,dy+h \quad\text{\;for\;} x\in\mathbb{R}^N \text{\;and\;} t\in[0,\infty),\tag{1} \] where \(h\) is a positive constant, \(J\in C^1(\mathbb{R}^N)\) is a nonnegative even function supported in the ball of center at the origin and of radius \(1\), \(f\) is a non negative nondecreasing function and \(u(x,t)\) stands for the mean membrane potential of a patch of tissue located at position \(x\in\mathbb{R}^N\) at time \(t\geq 0.\) The studied equation describes neural fields. The authors prove the existence of a compact global attractor for the flow generated by (1) in the weight space \(L^p(\mathbb{R}^N,\rho),\) where \(\rho:\mathbb{R}^N\to(0,\infty)\) is an integrable positive even function with \(\int_{\mathbb{R}^N}\rho(x)\,dx=1\) and there is \(K\in(0,\infty)\) such that the inequality \(\sup\{\rho(x):x\in\mathbb{R}^N,|x-y|<1\}\leq K\,\rho(y)\) holds for all \(y\in\mathbb{R}^N.\) Furthermore, uniform estimates on the size of the attractor are given and a Lyapunov functional to the flow generated by the equation (1) is exhibited.
