The authors consider a 1-dimensional Lagrangian averaged model for an inviscid compressible fluid with the aim to answer the following questions: 1. What types of wave motions are supported by Lagrangian averaged model for compressible flow? 2. Can Lagrangian averaged model for compressible flows be used to approximate shock wave solutions of the compressible Euler equations? The answer to the second question is not always positive. However it gives the possibilities of using Lagrangian averaged models for compressible flows to approximate shock wave solutions of the compressible Euler equations.
