    The existence of the global attractor in \(\widetilde L^2(\mathbb{R})\) of the damped forced Ostrovsky equation \[ u_t-\beta u_{xxx}+ (u^2)_x-\gamma D^{-1}_x u+\lambda u= f,\qquad (x,t)\in\mathbb{R}\times\mathbb{R}\tag{1} \] with the initial data \[ u(x, 0)= u_0(x)\in\widetilde L^2(\mathbb{R}) \] is shown. There \(\lambda> 0\), \(\beta\) and \(\gamma\) are real constants and \(\beta\cdot\gamma\neq 0\), \(D^{-1}_x= F^{-1}_x{1\over i\xi} F_x\), \(f\) is time independent and belongs to \(\widetilde L^2(\mathbb{R})\). The space \(\widetilde L^2(\mathbb{R})\) is defined as follows: \[ \widetilde L^2(\mathbb{R})= \Biggl\{f\in L^2(\mathbb{R}): F^{-1}_x\Biggl({1\over\xi} F_x f\Biggr)\in L^2(\mathbb{R})\Biggr\} \] with the norm \(\| f\|_{\widetilde L^2}=\| f\|_{L^2}+\| F^{-1}_x({1\over\xi} F_x f)\|_{L^2}\). The corresponding Sobolev spaces \(\widetilde H_s(\mathbb{R})\) are defined in a similar way: \[ \widetilde H^s(\mathbb{R})= \Biggl\{f\in H^s(\mathbb{R}): F^{-1}_x\Biggl({1\over\xi} F_xf\Biggr)\in H^s(\mathbb{R})\Biggr\} \] with the norm \(\| f\|_{\widetilde H^s}=\| f\|_{H^s}+\| F^{-1}_x({1\over\xi} F_x f)\|_{H^s}\). The global attractor of equation (1) is proved to be a compact set in \(\widetilde H^3(\mathbb{R})\).
