In this interesting paper, the author first revisits Rossi's local maximum principle by noticing that if the polynomial hull of a compact set is characterized in terms of plurisubharmonic functions, the proof of the principle becomes simple and, moreover, it can be generalized to almost complex manifolds. Several necessary definitions are included and a discussion illustrating the difference between the holomorphic case and the almost holomorphic case is also presented. In the second part, the author gives a proof of the polynomial convexity of (smooth enough) arcs. The author also presents some next possible steps on the subject.
