This paper deals with a class of quasilinear Schrödinger equations on the whole space. The authors are interested in the existence of positive entire weak solutions. Using a suitable change of variables in combination with a mountain pass-type result established by \textit{L. Jeanjean} [Proc. R. Soc. Edinb., Sect. A, Math. 129, No. 4, 787--809 (1999; Zbl 0935.35044)], the authors obtain a bounded Palais-Smale sequence, which implies the existence of a positive solution. The result is nice and the method can be extended to other classes of nonlinear elliptic equations.
