The authors announce (a detailed proof and more detailed applications are referred to a separate publication) a new result concerning an evolution system generated by the sum of two linear, nonautonomous, unbounded operators. They get a Trotter-Kato type formula, saying that this evolution system can be expressed as the strong limit of a product of the analytic contraction semigroups generated by the two operators. The authors state this result assuming very general assumptions on the domains of the operators. Finally, some possible applications of this result are mentioned.
