The authors discuss the dependence of positive solutions to the Hammerstein integral equation \[ u(t)=\lambda \int_0^1 K(x,y)f(y,u(y))dy, \] on the parameter \(\lambda\). It is proved, under suitable assumptions, that there exists \(\lambda^*>0\) such that the above equation has at least one, two and has no positive solution for \(0<\lambda <\lambda^*\), \(\lambda=\lambda^*\), and \(\lambda>\lambda^*\), respectively.
