The technique of invariant imbedding concept (i.i.c.) is applied for solving equipment design problems in the process industry. When design problems become complicated and are nonlinear, such problems may not have analytic solutions or solutions in closed forms. The technique of i.i.c. is applied to four such cases in this paper: (1) modeling of solid fluid heterogeneous reactions involving partial differential equations, (2) design of cylindrical cooling fans, (3) determining chemical reactor lengths, (4) determining distillation column lengths (the last two discussed peripherally).
