The author works in the category of k-schemes where k is a field. A Hironaka group scheme is a closed subgroup scheme H of an affine space \({\mathbb{A}}^ n\) which is invariant under scalar multiplications by \({\mathbb{G}}_ m\). Equivalently, H is the stabilizer in \({\mathbb{A}}^ n\) of a closed cone in \({\mathbb{A}}^ n\). When \(char(k)=0\), H is just a vector subspace. Let now \(char(k)=p\neq 0\). The central result is: \({\mathbb{A}}^ n/H\) is \({\mathbb{G}}_ m\)-equivariantly isomorphic to a finite sum of group schemes of the form \({\mathbb{A}}(q)\), where \({\mathbb{A}}(q)\) is \({\mathbb{A}}^ 1\) with \({\mathbb{G}}_ m\)-action given by \(t^*x=t^ qx\) (q is a power of p).
