The authors consider a model of an electrical circuit containing a PN- diode that is abruptly switched from the forward to the backward direction. Under some simplifying assumptions the model can be reduced to a single nonlinear Volterra equation with a completely monotone kernel or to a coupled system of such equations, and it is shown how this system can be further reduced to a single equation. Results about existence, uniqueness, global boundedness, montonicity and asymptotic behavior of the solution are given.
