The author investigates the singular quasilinear elliptic boundary value problem \[ \begin{cases} -\Delta _{p}u=\lambda u^{p-1}-b(x)u^{q}&\text{in }\Omega, \\ u>0 &\text{on } \Omega ,\\ u=\infty &\text{on } \partial \Omega, \end{cases} \] where \(\Omega =B_{R}(x_{0})\), \(x_{0}\in\mathbb R^N\) with \(N\geq 3\); \( q>p-1>1\), \(\lambda >0\). Under some assumptions on the potential function \(b\), the author obtains results concerning existence, blow-up rates and uniqueness of positive large radial solutions. The methods used in the proofs comprise the construction of lower and upper solutions with the same blow-up rates.
